Finally I found some time to enjoy the end of autumn in the forest.
The mushrooms are mostly gone or covered under a blanket of leaves but the smell and views are overwelming especially on a sunny day like today.
Once the sun sets the temperature drops and you can feel that winter is in the air.
The province of East-Flanders has several domains which are open to the public.
This domain in Wachtebeke has lots of ancient forest and is in autumn a marvelous place to walk around.
The last picture is a commom stinkhorn.
If you walk in the forest you can smell it’s foul odor from far away.
The insects are attracted by the odor and transport the spores of the mushroom.
